Mid-America Windmill Museum - Kendallville, Indiana - The goal of the Mid-America Windmill Museum is to preserve the history of our culture from the evolution of windpower, through the working of the American Windmill, to today's modern technology. By preserving this history we will educate visitors about the changes in technology and the evolution of today's society. Video presentations, personal tours of the working and still-life displays, photographs and informational areas, hands-on displays, and an on site library will give our visitors a variety of activities to utilize while learning about our past. The Mid-America Windmill Museum will be the only known operational museum of it's kind in the United States. Because of the concentration of windmill manufacturer's within 100 miles, the Kendallville community was chosen as the site of this new Northeast Indiana cultural tourist attraction.

Shattuck Windmill Park & Museum - Shattuck, Oklahoma - Shattuck has assembled one of the best windmill collections in North America.. Situated in a park setting are 37 restored windmills of all types (more coming). In addition, restorations of a prairie homestead soddy and homesteader frame house depict the lifestyle and challenges of early pioneers in the region. The International Windmillers Trade Fair was held at Shattuck in 1998 and was attended by windmillers from throughout the country.

The museum is sited on 28 acres of city land.  Three buildings are currently used for display, restoration and storage.  We are working on building a large headquarters interpretative center building, 30,000 sq. ft.  The land surrounding the building is called the Tom and Evelyn Linebery Windmill Park.  Our master plan specifys a large number of working windmills in this park while windmills too rare to be exhibited outdoors will be shown inside the building.

At this time, January 27th 1999, 13 windmills are erected outdoors and 45 are exhibited indoors.  We are trying to restore and erect two mills per month depending upon the mill and tower and whether a well has been drilled.

Golden Historical Society - The Golden Historical Society, Inc. was formed in 1986 to prevent the Prairie Mills Windmill from being torn down and moved to another community. The society conducted a fund drive, purchased the Prairie Mills Windmill, established a general artifacts museum and developed long range plans for the restoration of the mill. In 1988 the Emminga Bank Building was purchased by the Society. The building was renovated with the help of an Illinois Historic Preservation Agency grant. It is now home to the Society's Railroad Museum.
